Ostia Antica Virtual Tour: Life in Ancient Rome’s Forgotten Port

Join us for a fascinating virtual tour with slides through Ostia Antica, one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites in Italy and the ancient port city of Rome.

Often described as a “Roman Pompeii,” Ostia Antica offers something truly special: not only temples and monuments, but the real daily life of an ancient city. Through beautiful images and engaging storytelling, we’ll walk along ancient streets, enter Roman houses, shops, taverns, baths, warehouses, theaters, and sacred spaces, discovering how people lived, worked, traded, worshipped, and relaxed nearly two thousand years ago.

This was once a lively and cosmopolitan city, where sailors, merchants, workers, officials, families, and travelers from across the Mediterranean came together. Every corner still tells a story: mosaic floors, hidden inscriptions, ancient apartment buildings, public baths, bakeries, and the impressive theater that once welcomed crowds for performances and gatherings.

Together, we’ll uncover curiosities about Roman food, commerce, religion, entertainment, social life, and the surprising modernity of this ancient town. Ostia Antica allows us to see Rome from a different perspective — not only through emperors and monuments, but through the lives of ordinary people.

Come with us and discover Ostia Antica — Rome’s ancient port and one of the most fascinating windows into daily life in the Roman world.
