Orvieto’s Marvels Virtual Walking Tour

Join us on a virtual stroll through Orvieto, one of Umbria’s most striking hill towns, dramatically perched atop a volcanic tuff cliff. We’ll begin at the Albornoz Fortress (Rocca Albornoziana), built in the 14th century as a symbol of papal power and protection. From its gardens and panoramic walls, enjoy sweeping views across the Umbrian countryside and the winding valley of the Paglia River.

Our walk continues toward the Pozzo di San Patrizio, a true Renaissance engineering marvel. Commissioned by Pope Clement VII in the 16th century, this extraordinary well was designed to guarantee Orvieto’s water supply during times of siege. You’ll discover its double-helix staircases, ingenious design, and fascinating history, all while imagining the effort it took to carry water up and down its spiraling ramps.

As we explore these sites virtually, we’ll also touch upon Orvieto’s wider story: a town that blends Etruscan roots, medieval strength, and Renaissance brilliance.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to explore Orvieto’s secrets from home—an unforgettable virtual tour through history and beauty!
