Bettona Virtual Walking Tour: Umbria’s Medieval Gem

Join us for a beautiful virtual walking tour through Bettona, a small Umbrian hilltop town where history, art, and timeless charm come together.

As soon as we enter the village, we’ll feel its medieval soul. Bettona is still embraced by impressive ancient walls, built during the Middle Ages but incorporating sections of Etruscan origin — a powerful reminder of a town once designed to protect itself and stand strong against enemy attacks.

Together, we’ll wander through quiet stone streets, charming corners, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Umbrian countryside, discovering a place that feels authentic, peaceful, and wonderfully far from the crowds.

Along the way, we’ll admire important landmarks such as the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, originally from the 13th century and later transformed in the 17th century, and the Palazzo del Podestà, now home to the town museum.

Bettona is not only a town of history, but also a town of art. Its picture gallery preserves precious works, including masterpieces by Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino, one of the greatest artists of the Umbrian Renaissance.

This virtual walking tour is perfect for anyone who loves medieval villages, hidden gems, sacred art, ancient walls, and the quiet beauty of authentic Italy.
