COSTA SMERALDA – a new way to travel and experience the cruise, discover it on board
Costa Smeralda is the ship that is the symbol of beauty, style and Italian hospitality. The name means Emerald in Italian and the ship is named after Sardinia’s popular tourist coast.
Its spaces take the name of and inspiration from the squares of the “Bel Paese” of Italy: as you walk down the wide staircase of the stern, it will feel like you are strolling through Piazza di Spagna, and browsing through shops, bars and restaurants to glimpse the liveliness of magical places like those of Trastevere, with the privilege of a unique perspective, that of the sea.
Due to many new facilities and technologies you will spend an unforgettable and eco-friendlier holiday aboard. The 6218 passengers will discover the 20 decks of the 337-meter long Costa Smeralda.
There are eleven different restaurants including buffet and speciality restaurants where you can try delicious dishes from all over the world including a Japanese-inspired teppanyaki restaurant. Multiple bars including the themed Aperol Spritz Bar and Campari Bar. Dessert lovers will find The Nutella Cafe. The dress code is casual and informal. On a few days in the main restaurant there are Gala evenings for which a more elegant clothing is suitable
Costa Smeralda offers thrilling shows, live music, dance, and other performances at venues such as Piazza Trastevere and Colosseum.
The Piazza Grande Bellezza is a luxurious amphitheatre in the heart of the ship, where you could watch a range of performances. Piazza Ravello is an open space with a vibrant atmosphere, with a lounge area, live music, and a popular Spritz bar. Entertainment can also be found throughout restaurants in the form of pianists and DJs sets, and there are fun street performances happening in the public areas of the ship.
For evening entertainment, try your luck at the buzzing Casino Laguna, or enjoy an evening at Quelli Della Notte piano bar – one of many vibrant bars.
What you should not miss: Kitchen Lab
The new Ristorante LAB features 24 cooking stations where 48 guests in total can test their cooking skills, under the guidance of Costa Chefs. In addition to learning cooking tricks and techniques, guests can test their knowledge of food sustainability issues, learn to pay attention to food quality and how to minimize waste during food preparation
Itinerary: Smeralda will operate five- to seven-night sailings in the Western Mediterranean that feature calls at Savona, Civitavecchia (the port for Rome) and La Spezia, (Italy); Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, (Spain); Marseille, (France).
