Perugia Virtual Walking Tour: The Porta Santa Susanna District
Join us for a captivating virtual walking tour through one of Perugia’s most authentic and lesser-known neighborhoods: the Porta Santa Susanna district. Located within the ancient core of the city, this charming area blends the quiet elegance of medieval architecture with the rhythms of daily Umbrian life.
Perugia, the capital of Umbria, is a hilltop city rich in history, art, and culture. Known for its Etruscan origins, stunning Renaissance palaces, and as the home of the world-famous Umbria Jazz Festival and Eurochocolate, it offers far more than first meets the eye. Beyond the bustling main streets lies a more intimate side of Perugia, and that’s exactly where we’ll take you.
As we wander through narrow alleys, arched passageways, and peaceful courtyards, you’ll discover the unique character of the Porta Santa Susanna district—a place where Etruscan stones meet medieval walls, and locals still greet each other in the street. This rione is rich with detail: timeworn facades, small shrines tucked into corners, and unexpected views over the Umbrian hills.
You’ll get a taste of the city’s layered identity—one shaped by ancient civilizations, medieval guilds, and modern-day artisans who continue to call this neighborhood home. Whether you’ve visited Perugia before or are discovering it for the first time, this immersive walk invites you to slow down, notice the beauty in the small things, and experience a side of the city that many travelers overlook
