Fabriano Virtual Walking Tour – the City of Paper and Art
Join us for a virtual stroll through Fabriano, a hidden gem in the heart of the Marche region, famous worldwide for its centuries-old tradition of papermaking and its rich artistic heritage. Nestled between the Apennine hills, Fabriano is a city where history, craftsmanship, and creativity intertwine.
Our walk begins in the historic center, where elegant palaces and medieval towers tell stories of prosperity and innovation. We’ll explore the beautiful Piazza del Comune, framed by the Palazzo del Podestà, the Loggiato di San Francesco, and the Cathedral of San Venanzio — a perfect example of Gothic and Renaissance styles blending harmoniously.
You’ll discover how Fabriano became a leading center for handmade paper production as early as the 13th century, introducing techniques that revolutionized European culture. As we wander through narrow streets and quiet squares, our guide will share stories of artists, merchants, and monks who contributed to the city’s flourishing past. You’ll also see traces of Gentile da Fabriano, one of the great masters of Italian Gothic painting, whose refined style influenced Renaissance art.
Experience Fabriano from the comfort of your home and discover a town that turns simple materials — water, cotton, and imagination — into art that has traveled the world.
