Join us for a fascinating virtual walking tour through Sansepolcro, one of the most beautiful and lesser-known towns in eastern Tuscany, surrounded by the peaceful landscapes of the Upper Tiber Valley.

Far from the busiest tourist routes, Sansepolcro preserves the atmosphere of an authentic Italian town, where medieval streets, Renaissance palaces, ancient churches and local traditions come together.

Its story begins with a legend. According to tradition, two pilgrims named Arcano and Egidio returned from the Holy Land carrying sacred relics from the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. They founded a small religious settlement here, around which the town gradually developed. Its original name, Borgo San Sepolcro, reflects this sacred connection.

During our virtual walk, we will discover how this medieval settlement became a prosperous town along important routes connecting Tuscany, Umbria and the Adriatic coast. Merchants, pilgrims, artists and powerful families all contributed to shaping its distinctive character.

We will stroll through its atmospheric streets and reach Piazza Torre di Berta, the lively heart of the historic center. Along the way, we will admire the Cathedral of San Giovanni Evangelista, historic palaces, beautiful façades and ancient churches that reveal the town’s artistic and religious importance.

Sansepolcro is especially famous as the birthplace of Piero della Francesca, one of the greatest masters of the Italian Renaissance. His extraordinary ability to combine geometry, perspective and light transformed the history of Western art. The town still preserves some of his most celebrated works, including the magnificent Resurrection.

But Sansepolcro is more than its monuments. It is a living town with artisan traditions, local festivals, inviting cafés and a strong sense of community.
