Assisi Virtual Walking Tour – Hidden Roman Secrets
Nestled among the rolling hills of central Italy, Assisi is world-famous as the birthplace of St. Francis… but there’s a hidden side of this enchanting town that most travelers completely miss. Beneath its peaceful medieval beauty lies a fascinating Roman past just waiting to be discovered.
On this immersive virtual walking tour, we’ll take you beyond the postcard views and dive into the ancient heart of Assisi—back to a time when this hilltop town was a thriving Roman city.
Our journey begins with one of Assisi’s most surprising landmarks: the Temple of Minerva. Standing proudly in the main square, this remarkably preserved Roman temple is a powerful reminder of the city’s ancient roots—blending seamlessly into the medieval streets that surround it.
But that’s just the beginning. You’ll uncover the remains of Roman aqueducts, see the area of the ancient forum, and discover the amphitheater where crowds once gathered to watch dramatic spectacles unfold. Guided by our expert local guide Patrizia, you’ll hear incredible stories of conquest, power, and transformation as history comes alive beneath your feet.
