Bernini served eight popes and innumerable cardinals, he was a brilliant sculptor, an excellent architect, painter and stage designer and he changed forever the Roman skyline. He worked in many part of Rome to create fountains, palaces, churches, funerary monument and he is universally recognized as the last great Italian genius after Leonardo and Michelangelo. His best-known works include St Peter’s Square, the sculpture Apollo and Daphne in the Borghese Gallery, the baldachin inside St Peter’s Basilica,Barberini’s Palace and the Fountain of the four Rivers in Navona Square.

Borromini was one of the leading Baroque architects, a highly talented but volatile character. Borromini was the one who brought architecture to life by abandoning simple symmetry in favor of dynamic relationships. He refurbished St. John in Laterano and he created true masterpieces as St. Charles at the four Fountains and the Oratory of Saint Phillip Neri.
